Last Saturday, I  had the pleasure of teaching my class, Two for Show (reversible table runner), to the members of the Smoky Hill Quilt Club in Aurora, Co.  I had a hint of how the class would go after speaking to the club on Thursday evening.  If I was closer, I would not hesitate to join this club.  It is energetic, filled with creative and enthusiastic quilters.  It was a joy to be with them.

For those who don’t know, Two for Show is a pattern I designed for a reversible table runner/placemats.  I refined a technique to add batting as you add rows – not quite quilt-as-you-go, but similar.

Here is the class – hard at work!!

Class members chose their own fabrics to have on each side of the quilt.  Some bought my kits, others had fabric from their stashes.  One gal had fabric a friend had sent from New Zealand!!

The gal below started her center squares with pieces of embroidery she had rejected from another project.  Great way to use scraps and experiments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With this pattern, you use the fabrics to pull the colors from the center square.

It was a wonderful day, filled with laughter and creativity.  We talked about the assembly technique, color choice and reversible binding.  I thank the class for the uniform rating of excellent in the class evaluation.  It was a pleasure to teach such enthusiastic students.
