Spring Quilt Market

My design partner, Julia Deal of Sew Artistic, and I went to our first Quilt Market in Pittsburgh last weekend.  We had a blast!

For those of you who do not know, Quilt Market is a Trade Show primarily for quilt shop owners.  It is like having all the vendors, but no quilt show.  And, filling the Pittsburgh Convention Center, there were 26 isles with vendors on both sides.

One of the big events was the introduction of Cotton + Steel fabrics.  Here is Julia with three of the founding designers.  Melody is the one with the pink hair – the one who wrote the original email to RJR Fabrics.  The rest is history.  Their fabric is made in Japan of the highest quality cotton.  It has a wonderful hand.  Each designer has her own line, but they worked hard to get them to all work together – and they do.

Here I am with Rashida, another of the founding designers, in front of their fabric wall.

We had a great view of the hall from the third floor where we were taking classes.  Here is Julia in front of the window.

We each had some samples in the Market.  Andover Fabrics displayed one of my new patterns made from their Meadow Collection.  It is the bed runner to the right of my legs.  The Pattern, Poppy Fields,  is available through QuiltWoman.com.

As I go through all of the goodies I brought back, I will talk more about the experience and what I took away, other than the goodies.
