RAFA Show in March

Well, it has been to long since the last post.  I have been teaching, sewing and traveling.  Most exciting is the opening of the Rochester Area Fiber Artist (RAFA) show at the Arts and Cultural Council of Rochester Gallery.  “Off the Wall” will be up through the month of March.  It features the works of 16 members.

Once I heard the theme of the show, I thought of doing a mobius – a geometrical shape with one edge and one surface.  It requires making strip, twist it once and then joining the ends.  Here is a picture of me and the work “Expanding Universe” on opening night.  I thank RAFA member Caris Burton for the picture.

The fun part was figuring how to hang it.  I thank Janet Root for the loan of here living room light stand for the duration of the show.  Off to the antique shops for my search.  It is the perfect hanger.
In January, we traveled to the Dominican Republic for a little R&R.  Talk about a wonderful beach.
We stayed at the RIU Palace Punta Cana.  Beautiful, with a wide, sandy beach, lots of shade, and a very nice spa.  We had a great time.

The influence is European, so the food was geared to European taste.  A nice change from US influence.  We read, sat on the beach, ate and drank.  Not bad for a week.

Now it is back to work.  I am now working at Patricia’s Fabric House which now has a presence on FaceBook.  Their Spring Quilt Show will be March 17.  Please come if you can.  Also, check out the class schedule on the website.
